Types Of Astrology

Vedic Astrology

Beyond its technical aspects, Vedic astrology is ultimately a spiritual science, and therefore requires a certain level of intuition that is generally only present in those who maintain certain standards of spiritual practice. In order to read horoscopes and then give advice on how to best approach life’s obstacles from a spiritual perspective, an astrologer should be living a life in which a strong standard of spiritual discipline is maintained.

In fact, the astrologers of ancient India were considered to be great sages who were honest, humble, magnanimous, detached, and treated all equally. Their main purpose was to help guide individuals on the path of spirituality.

Vedic Astrology is an ancient Indian science that explains planetary motions and positions with respect to time and their effect on humans and other entities on earth. Vedic astrology can be traced thousands of years back. Early Vedic astrology was only based on the movement of planets with respect to stars, but later on it started including zodiac signs as well. According to Vedic astrology there are 27 constellations made up of 12 zodiac signs, 9 planets and 12 houses with each house and planet representing some aspect of human life. Depending on when a person is born, the 12 signs are distributed among the 12 houses and 9 planets are placed in various houses. This visual representation of the snapshot of the signs and planets is called a horoscope chart. Vedic astrology is nothing but interpreting the meaning of these arrangements as it applies to humans and other entities.
Our future is determined by two things, according to the Vedas: destiny and free will.
Destiny refers to the various situations we encounter in life, while free will is how we react to them through thought and action. How we react creates further karma, which then determines the future set of situations we will be destined to face. In other words, our destiny is created by our free will.
The Vedas recognize four goals of human life, dharma, artha, kama, and moksha.
Dharma can be basically defined as the mode of conduct most conducive for one’s spiritual growth. Fulfilling dharma, brings meaning, purpose, and honor to a person’s life.

Kama translates literally as “desire,” and refers to the need for sensory and emotional happiness. All beings, in some way or another, are seekers of joy and should pursue such joy without harming themselves, or others.
Artha, though translating as “goal” or “purpose,” is more specifically related to the acquisition of wealth or a sense of security. In order to experience the happiness of attaining one’s goals, a person must have the necessary resources of wealth in order to do so.
The final goal, moksha, means “liberation,” and relates to people’s spiritual development until their eventual freedom from the cycle of birth and death.
Vedic astrology is the map of our karma. It allows us to more precisely understand our own nature and destiny in order to navigate our lives in fulfilling these four goals. Ultimately, however, it’s about helping us in our spiritual development to achieve the final goal of moksha. By studying our horoscopes, we can better comprehend what energies are affecting us, and how we can best respond to those energies, often with spiritual practices like chanting or ritual worship, to help us in our spiritual growth.

Numerology (Lo Shu Square/Grid):

It is also known as laxmiyantra in India. This square was remarkable because every horizontal, vertical, and diagonal row added up to 15. Fifteen is the number of days between the new moon and full moon respectively. The number five is highly regarded in ancient china and this magic square contained a five number in the centre of this lo-shu grid.
Evaluation of Lo-shu grid: The magic lo-shu grid is equally divided equally into 6 parts. 3 Vertically and 3 horizontally respectively.

KP Astrology (KrishnamurtiPaddhati System):

The basic concept of Astrology can be understood by means of regular practice and study. KP Astrology is not very different from Vedic Astrology. The concept of kp system or kpastrology has been derived from Vedic Astrology as well as Western Astrology. These systems believe in 12 Zodiac Signs, practically defined worldwide, hence KP Astrology also don’t deny to this concept.
KP Astrology is based on the stellar system of prediction and its “Sub Lords. The entire KP system is based on proper evaluation and applications of sub lords. As we have already discussed that it is a best part of Vedic Astrology. Hence the idea of forming the chart is also prepared in KP Astrology based on Bhava Chalit Chart of Vedic Astrology.
In Bhava Chalit Chart, we consider first house from mid point of first house (First House cusp) to midpoint of second house (Second House cusp) whereas in KP system, it is considered from the Lagna degree up to the next 30 degree. The degree of houses may vary from 30 degree. In KP system, 360 degree of Zodiac Belt is divided into 12 unequal parts. The houses are measured from cusp to cusp. Cusp is the point of intersection of two houses.
We need to calculate first seven Bhavas in KP Astrology and then we may calculate the next bhavas till 12 by deducting the corresponding houses degree from 180 degree as all the bhavas are placed 180 degree apart from its opposite Bhavas.
Each Zodiac sign contains 2 and 1/4th Nakshatras and we have already unveiled the 9 divisions of particular Nakshatra in KP System. Every single part of these 9 divisions are allotted to certain planets. This division is based on the Placidus system of Western Astrology.

Some key highlights of KP System are as follows:

  • KP system gives importance to the Constellations / Stars / Nakshatras divisions of the Zodiac which is obviously the most desired for precision.
  • Further it divides each Constellation / Star / Nakshatra division into further 9 subdivisions called ‘SUBS’. These sub divisions are not equal divisions, but are as per the VimshottariDashas divisions system.
  • K.P. System uses K.P. Ayanamshas as opposed to LahiriAyanamshas mostly used in Vedic System. The difference between two is about 6 minutes (Kala).
  • This system uses Cusps that is house/ bhav beginnings like Western Systems, as opposed to Vedic System which uses House Centres i.e. BhavMadhyas
  • This system uses Placidus House system.
  • The planet in its period (dasha) gives results as per its Nakshatra-Swami (Star-Lord) rather than the planet itself. Hence Planet is represents the SOURCE, the Planet’s Star-Lord represents the RESULTS and that Planet’s Sub gives the idea of the FINAL OUTCOME (POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE) of that result.
  • House significations are given more importance than planetary significations.

According to KP Astrology Principles

In KP Astrology, certain rules are defined to measure the time for happening and non happening moments in life. How these certain rules are being implemented on the certain situation, let’s find below:

  • Significations of any planet is based on the house occupied by the star lord of particular planet and planet itself, houses owned by star lord of the planet and owned by planet itself.
  • Significator of any house is based on planets in the star of occupying that house, that house itself, planet in the star of owners of that particular house and owner of that house.
  • In KP system, each planet has its sub lord whose effects are also seen while analysing any horoscope. In case, two planets are placed in one Nakshatra and sub lords are different for each one, then there can be different results experienced.
  • In kp astrology, it is considered that Sign Lord gives its results depending on the house in which it sits, however, good or bad results are seen through the sub lords.
  • Any planet sitting in any house and certain sign may provide you the results of its previous house or next house as well depending on the certain degree of the planet.
  • Any Planet, placed in certain Zodiac sign, first provide you the result of its Nakshatra Lord, also called as Sub lords.
  • Any planet’s Mahadasha (VimshottariDasha) can affect all the significator houses. Significator houses are the houses which gets activated during its Mahadasha period.
  • Any event will take place or not, it will be predicted through the cuspal Sub Lords and promise in Kundali based on significators.

Planets with its significator houses:

Planets Significatory Houses
Sun 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th
Venus 6th, 4th, 5th, 11th
Mars 1st, 5th, 11th
Mercury 5th, 8th, 12th
Jupiter 2nd, 5th, 9th, 11th
Saturn 2nd, 4th, 7th, 11th
Rahu 5th, 6th
Ketu 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th

The above list of planets and houses describe which houses get activated while the Mahadasha, Antardasha or PratyantarDasha of certain Planet comes.

Bhrigu Nandi Nadi

Bhrigu Nandi Nadi says that“Planetary conjunctions mixes the karakatwas of planets so that the result of the combination gets reflected in real life. For example, if Mercury is education and Sun is father, the conjunction of Sun and Mercury means that the father is well educated”.

Bhrigu Nandi Nadi Astrology and Lal Kitab Astrology is very much similar to each other. Both astrology concept is same Its matched 80 %(Results which is normally case). Lal Kitab is mostly followed in North India and Brigu Nandi Nadi in South India. That’s why it should be followed or practice only after proper education, learning and knowing the effects astrologer will have on him, if try to manipulate it from its basic purpose of making life useful to the society.

Bhrigu Nandi Nadi Astrology is a branch of Nadi Astrology – ancient way of prophecy, before Parasher Rishi. It means to give predictions without checking dasa. and transit over rasi. Jupiter is considered Lagna for Male (initially it still used for female as Jupiter is Jeeva /Native) and Venus is considered Lagna for Female.

There was once a gifted astrologer, in the 20th century who died just a few years back. His name was R.G. Rao and the astrology community owes him a lot. If ever astrology gets proven on paper, it will be solely because of the foundational efforts of five people.

  • B.V. Raman who translated several texts books on astrology into English.
  • B Suryanarain Rao, the grandfather of B.V.Raman who also translated numerous texts authentically.
  • R Santhanam because of his translation of Chandra Kala Nadi and BrihatParashara Hora Shastra.
  • C. S. Patel for his translations from Bhrigu Nadi and Chandra Kala Nadi.
  • R.G. Rao for his translations of Nandi Nadi, Bhrigu Nadi and Kashyapa Hora

Bhrigu Nadi Astrology Great importance is given to

  • the sign-in which the planet is placed
  • the conjunction of the planets in Sign
  • the planet which Is in conjunction in terms of its degrees;
  • planets which are in the 12th house of a particular planet Under Study
  • planets which are placed in the next house of the sign-in which a particular planet is placed;
  • planets that are Placed opposite to the concerned planets. In Bhrigu Nadi Astrology The planet will imbibe the quality of the planets, of which it is Depositor. If Saturn is a disposition of Jupiter and mercury, it will change its character according and give ascribed results.

Therefore, for every 12 years, the ascendant would be the Sign where Jupiter is placed governing the event of those 12 years, and then for the next 12 years, it will be rotated in the next house, which will govern the events for the next 12 years and conforms to the indication of the prime placement.

For Example: Here in the Nadis we take into account: (1) Jupiter for births of children, (2) Mercury for education, (3) Saturn for profession, (4) Venus for marriages, (5) Jupiter’s transit over the sign occupied by Ketu for religious travels or pilgr/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/.

Saturn is the Lord of Karma (work). He is neither good nor bad.
The results depend on the position of Saturn. His transit indicates the
changes. When considering results the sign occupied by a planet, the Lord of the sign, the other planets posited in that sign, the planets in the 7th and 12th to the planet, whose effects are being considered, have to be
taken into account for assessing the results. The exchange of signs of
that planet with another is also taken into consideration. In addition the
transit of Jupiter is taken into account. He gives the results of the sign
he transits.

Note: Remember everywhere Saturn is considered for timing of events (GOOD/ BAD) and Jupiter is required for blessing that of events (You may still consider it as event).

Medical Astrology

Medical Astrology is the branch of the Astrology that deals with Health and Longevity issues. Each sign and each planet are associated with a number of possible diseases. So it may be said that the native may be affected by such disease or diseases. In my opinion the function of the astrologer ends with saying that the particular part of the body will be sensitive to acute or chronic disease. Only the medical doctor alone is competent authority to name the disease.

The 6th house denotes the sickness, 8th house surgery, death, and 12th house hospitalization. Disease is indicated by 6, danger by 8, and defect by 12. If the sub lord of 12th cusp is in 6, the house of disease, and if the sub lord is in the constellation of the planet occupying or owning 6 or 8 or 12 it is definite that one will have the defect from the time when the significators conjointly operate. If the sub lord of the ascendant is in the constellation of the significator of 6 or 8 or 12 then one suffers from disease or danger or hospitalization. The following houses represent health issues in the astrology chart:

  • SIXTH HOUSE: Sixth house in the astrology chart is known as the ‘house of sicknesses’. It indicates disease and sickness. The health will break down only when one runs the mahadashas or Bhuktis of planets connected with the 6th house. Planets in any manner connected to the 6th house have to cause disease. Hence in their conjoined periods they produce such results. Any planet can own the 6th house or occupy the constellation or sub of lord of 6. Therefore, all planets are capable of causing ailment.
  • EIGHTH HOUSE: Eighth house in the astrology chart is considered to have direct bearing upon one’s longevity or span of life in this world. It is necessary to consider 1st and 3rd house also in addition to the 8th house for longevity. The 8th house is called the ‘house of death’, the end of life in this world. Eighth house has to do with misfortune, mental anxiety, accident, surgery, suicide, and danger from disease.
  • TWELFTH HOUSE: Twelfth house in the astrology chart is the house of hospitalization, confinement, imprisonment, loss by marriage, loss of wife, loss of any kind, expenses, donations, charity work, secret enemies, deception, and repayment of loan.

For cure, consider the 1st, 5th, and 11th. 1st – health, 5th is 12th to the 6th or absence of sickness, 11th is 12th to 12 – or absence of bedridden sickness. Whenever one suffers from any disease, one will be running the period of the planet connected with 6th house. He can expect cure during the sub period of the planet connected with ascendant or 5th house or 11th house. A Virgo born will be sick when they run the period of a planet in Scorpio, in Saturn star, and sun sub. The following houses represent cure from disease or good health in the astrology chart:
  • FIRST HOUSE: First house or the Ascendant is always an important house when it comes to the health of the native. It also indicates native’s physical stature, vitality and vigor. If the ascendant cusp lord and the ascendant lord are well placed by house, nakshatras, aspect and conjunction, it gives good health to the native.
  • FIFTH HOUSE: Fifth house is the house of cure or absence of sickness as it is 12th house to the 6th house of sickness and disease. In other words, 5th house negate 6th house matters, that is sickness and disease. During the period of the planets connected with the 5th house, the health of the native improves, and they find cure if they have any health issues.
  • ELEVENTH HOUSE: Planets in any manner connected with 11th house cure disease as 11th is the 6th to the 6th. No person can have a cure from the chronic disease, if there is no planet in the 11th house, no planet in the constellation of the owner or occupant of 11th house and if the 11th cusp and the lord of the 11th are in the sub of evil planets. Horoscopes of sick people reveal that the lords of the dasas which they experienced they contracted disease are all in the sub of lord of 6, and the 11th house is not strong. Lord of 11 and 1 are also spoiled. 11th house which is 12th to the 12th house governs discharge from the hospital.
  • AFFLICTIONS IN SIGNS: Each sign and each planet are associated with a number of possible diseases. Planets in movable signs cause disease of short duration; Common signs indicate neither short nor long. Fixed signs threaten disease of prolonging, chronic, and tedious nature. If planets are afflicted in movable or cardinal signs they affect head, stomach, kidneys and skin. Diseases, for example, brain fever, epilepsy, sudden unconsciousness (apoplexy); stomach trouble, cancer; kidney and liver troubles; rheumatism, gout and colds or chills. Afflictions in fixed signs affect throat, heart, urine-genital organs and blood. Diseases, for example, tonsillitis, diphtheria, heart troubles, spinal ailments, piles, stones, ailments regarding urinary and generative organs; blood disorders. Afflictions in common or mutable signs affect lungs, intestines, nerves and digestion. It represents diseases, for example, TB, bronchitis, asthma, intestinal diseases, rheumatism; dropsy, scurvy.
  • SIGNS AND PARTS OF THE BODY:
    – Aries: Head, brain, face
    – Taurus: Throat, neck, lips, ears
    – Gemini: Lungs, hands, arms, shoulders
    – Cancer: Stomach, breasts, chest, digestive organs, ribs, elbows
    – Leo: Heart, back, spine, wrists, forearms.
    – Virgo: Intestines, lower spine, fingers, abdomen, spleen
    – Libra: Kidneys, skin, lumbar region
    – Scorpio: Urinary and generative organs, bladder, anus, pelvis, nose, appendix
    – Sagittarius: Hips, thighs, nerves, arteries
    – Capricorn: Knees, joints, bones, teeth, skin
    – Aquarius: Legs, ankles, circulation of blood
    – Pisces: Feet, toes, lymphatic system

PLANETS AND ORGANS OF THE BODY:

  • Sun: Heart, back, spleen, blood, brain, right eye of a man, left eye of a woman, vitality
  • Moon: Stomach, uterus, ovaries, breasts, saliva, left eye of a man, right eye of a woman
  • Mercury: Nerves, mind, brain, tongue, speech, lungs, hands, arms, ears, hair
  • Venus: Throat, internal generative organs, kidneys, ovaries, complexion, reins, veins, cheeks
  • Mars: External generative organs, rectum, Nose, fore-head, gall bladder, muscles, bile
  • Jupiter: Liver, arteries, hip bones, feet, thighs, arteries, right ear
  • Saturn: Bones, gall bladder, skin, left ear, joints, teeth, spleen,

SIGNIFICATORS OF HEALTH:

Ascendant: The degree rising on the cusp of the Ascendant is of great importance in judging the health. It rules the body. The bodily strength and its power of resisting disease may be judged. from the Ascendant. Health suffers when the sub lord of the ascendant is in the constellation of the significator of 6 or 8 or 12. If the sub lord of the Ascendant is in the star of the occupant of the 1st or the 11th, the health is normal. f the sub lord of the ascendant is in the star of the occupant or owner of the 6th (disease and sickness), the 8th (danger to life), or the 12th (bedridden illness), this is not good for matters of health.
Sun: It rules the vitality, constitution of the body.
Moon: It rules the functional system of the body. It is of primary importance in the case of a child. It is a very important significator of health in the chart of a woman.
Sixth House: It is a house of sickness, ailments and diseases. Disease is judged from the sign on the cusp of the 6th house, planets in the 6th house, ruler of the 6th house, and planets connected with the 6th house.
Thus Sun, Moon, Ascendant, the ruler of the Ascendant, the ruler of the 6th house, planets in the 6th house, and planets connected with the 6th house are the significators of health. Saturn when afflicted in the astrology chart causes diseases for want of proper nourishment, chronic and lingering ailments, dislocations, sprains, falls, blows, rheumatism, colds, chills, bruises. Mars when afflicted in the astrology chart causes sharp and sudden diseases, accidents, surgeries, fevers, inflammatory diseases. Jupiter when afflicted in the astrology chart causes liver trouble, gout, blood disorder, ailments arising from excessive eating and indiscretion in diet. Mental instability or madness is judged from the afflictions to moon and mercury by the malefics. Mercury rules speech and hearing. If sun and moon are afflicted, eyes are weak. Mars denotes operations, sharp and sudden diseases. Saturn lingering diseases like gangrene, paralysis.
